![]() *Jamaica Facts* · Jamaica is the second poorest Caribbean Island, second only to Haiti. · AIDS is the second leading cause of death in children under the age of 4, and in young adults 20-39. · Poverty, poor education, poor nutrition and poor health are just a few of the widespread problems in Jamaica.
Improving Health, Improving Lives Who we are: A group of Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses from Colorado, Indiana and New York. Where we are going: Cave Valley, a rural farming community located between two mountains in Hanover Parish. Grange Hill Clinic, Jerusalem Mountain Clinic, Sav-La-Mar Clinic & Hospital, Baulk Health Center in Westmoreland Parish. What we will do: Provide desperately needed health care in impoverished communities including blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol screening; medications for acute and chronic illnesses, health teaching, and introduction to CPR, HIV testing, and dental hygiene teaching.
We ask that you share this with anyone you think may be interested in being involved in any way. All of our supplies and expenses are either donated or out-of pocket. We are hoping that some people may wish to be involved by contributing resources; others may want to participate in a future mission trip. Mostly we hope and pray that we have a safe and successful mission. Thank you for your interest, and for your continued prayers and support Mission Participants:
